Jólasoul

This December, five of the Faroe Islands’ most exciting artists—Marianna Winter, Katrina Olsen, Dania O. Tausen, jazzygold, and gówa—come together to release Jólasoul, a new holiday album filled with festive spirit and musical diversity. The album, set to release on December 6th, is a heartfelt celebration of their annual Christmas concert tradition, now in its fifth year.

Jólasoul is more than just a collection of holiday songs; it captures the essence of the live show that Faroese audiences have come to love. Every year, the Jólasoul concert blends genres, musical styles, and vibrant choir arrangements, offering a rich, soulful, and joyous Christmas experience. From classic carols to modern festive tunes, the show embraces a wide range of musical influences, creating a unique holiday atmosphere.

The five artists have translated this spirit into the album, which brings the magic of the Jólasoul stage into your home. The album will be available in multiple formats, including CD, digital streaming, and a striking red vinyl edition—a perfect collector’s item for vinyl enthusiasts and holiday music lovers alike.

The creation of Jólasoul would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of Ari Johannesen, who produced and recorded almost all of the tracks. His dedication and tireless work behind the scenes have turned this long-held dream into a reality. Special thanks also go to Ragnar Finsson, who co-produced track 3 with Marianna Winter, as well as Eyðfinn B. Lamhauge, who co-produced track 4 alongside Ari, with contributions from Marius DC, who helped write the same track. All three of these talented individuals also make guest appearances on the respective tracks, adding a personal touch to the album’s rich soundscape.

Jólasoul is not only a tribute to the concerts but also to the camaraderie and creativity that these five talented artists have shared over the years. The record highlights the beauty of collaboration, blending their distinctive voices and styles to create something truly special for the holiday season.

Whether you’re a fan of soul, pop, folk, or jazz, Jólasoul is a festive album that celebrates diversity and community—both in music and in the spirit of Christmas.
