Dania O. Tausen

A hard-working multi-artist from the small village of Toftir. Dania O. Tausen is a singer, songwriter and poet with good sense for quirky yet intellegent Faroese lyrics and experimental productions in the genre of alternative/indie pop, folk and singer-songwriter. Dania has been nominated for several Faroese Music Awards and won Album of the year in 2023 for her second album “ja/nei – og restin av vikuni” (“yes/no – and the rest of the week”).

Dania has a unique touch of the Faroese language in all her art. She uses a language that everyone can relate to in a clever and sophisticated way. She has a Bachelor in Creative Writing and won the “Ebba” prize for young Faroese poets with special talent.

As the busy musician Dania is, she has released music with different bands like Aggrasoppar and Reality Bytes since 2019. Her debut album with this solo project “gonguteigatúnatos” came out in 2021 after the release of her highly appreciated poetry book “Skál” and the documentary about it. Since then she has travelled a lot with the book, the film and her music for different festivals around Europe.

With her solo project she works with different people and experiments with different styles. The productions and compositions are always seeking an interesting and organic sound, mixed with layers of electronic elements, that you don’t really see coming. The music is light and intelligent with strong melodies and playful lyrics that make you stop and listen. A universe that is reflective and experimental, yet catchy and easy to get into.
