Willie’s Joints
As a small town kid seeing Willie Nelson live in concert, is a religious experience. Benjamin, the man behind Son of Fortune was in Nashville Tennessee in 2019 and was lucky enough to get into the Bridgestone Arena to hear the legend live.
“A room full of love, electricity in the air, I thought about you lord”, Son of Fortune sings in the song “Willie’s Joints”. After the show, Benjamin realised that the only way to become human again after such a high, was to find the nearest honky tonk and drink bourbon and beer; and shot after shot he slowly became more and more human. The day after he woke up in a cheep hostel on 1st avenue north, and with pain in his hair he went downstairs to hang out with freaks, artist’s and blue collar workers who lived at the hostel. Inspired by the night before and the people around him, the lyrics flowed down on his note pad.
