Description
Loysing í dós
Four years after their debut, GØ returns with a new album featuring nine tracks, releasing later this year. The first single, “Loysing í dós,” is controversial, addressing the century-long Faroese struggle between independence (FO:Loysing) and union (FO: Samband). The track opens with a sampled speech from former “Republic Youth” leader Rúni Nielsen, listing all the reasons why “Loysing Krevst” (“Independence is needed”). Then the horns kick in, transforming the track into a powerful and vibey march, complete with an anthemic chorus that drives the message home. GØ will play at Reykjavík Jazz Festival in August before releasing their full album in November 2024.
