Bárður á Lakjuni

Bárður á Lakjuni is born in 1978. In 2006 he graduated from the University of the Faroe Islands as a teacher, and he is presently working as a public school teacher in the village of Fuglafjørður – the place where he also grew up. In his work he has written, translated and staged several larger musicals.

Since early childhood music has been a huge part of Bárður’s life. Growing up in a home filled with music and singing it was natural for him to follow in that same path with the flute being his first instrument, then followed by the aucoustic guitar and other instruments.

Bárður has featured in several music publications both as lead singer/songwriter, and as a backing vocalist and musician. He was part of the acapella group ‘Salt’ from 2000-2008 and the group released two CDs – the first in 2004, and the latter in 2007.

Bárður is also the lead singer and main songwriter in the more alternative music group ‘Tollarar og Syndarar’ (T.O.S.). The group plays music which is a mixture of different genres creating their own distinct sound that takes you all the way from polka to rock, from walz to pop. The group has published two CDs – in 2010 and 2014 – and a couple of singles, and though not so productive at the time being, the group is still active playing concerts around the Faroe Islands from time to time.

In 2012 Bárður published the CD ‘Gakk tú tryggur’ together with his father, Jógvan.

‘Lívsins dansur’ which was released as a CD and booklet in March 2020 is Bárður’s first solo album.

Bárður lives in the village of Leirvík together with his wife, Mirjam, and their four children, Oddvør, Aimi, Sámal and Jógvan.
