Tú spurdi meg describes how memories of home become so idealized over time that they almost feel foreign— as if home has turned into a dream, a place we can never fully return to. It conveys a sense of homelessness, as the Faroe Islands are our true home, yet at the same time, they feel distant, both physically and emotionally:
“Out over the fjord, making us homeless, like the leaves that drift around.”
The song is built on a bass progression with soft guitar, electronic tones, and rhythm. Like a stream of memories, the soundscape flows back and forth between the electronic and the analog as we sing about longing for home— a feeling we know well after many years of living abroad.
