Sjóborgin
Sjóborgin is the name of a Faroese boat that sank on April 2nd, 1998, when Simona had recently been born. “I was two months old at the time, my sister 1 year old and my brother 3 years old. This day meant that I lost my father, grandfather and uncle. Although I was just a newborn, sadness, fear and a group of unanswered questions have always been laying in the background. As the years have passed, I have especially wondered how my mother has managed to give me and my siblings such a good and happy life. All our lives, she has fought for us. She has done this by putting her own needs aside for our benefit. She is the strongest I know and my guide in life through all ages. She has not once complained about her bad fate in front of us. However, I know that there are more thoughts and feelings behind such fate, but I am afraid to ask her about it; for if she breaks down in pieces, I do too.” Simona says.
