In relation to the International Men’s Day 2020, Marbles Lost are ready with they new single Montage Song (Boys Should Cry).
Montage Song is a music montage that screams of nostalgia and recommends men and boys to let go and get in touch with their feminine side.
,,For me, Montage Song is a nostalgia-bomb! I clearly see the couple in the lyrics for my eyes. It’s a classic rom-com song, in my opinion. It’s written for that part of the movie where the lead role and their romantic interest get into some sort of conflict. That part where we see the montage with all their romantic moments.” says Maria Mercedes Lindenskov, who wrote the lyrics for Montage Song.
We have even almost succeeded in building up the number according to the Hollywood model. Montage Song begins with the sound of an analog film projector. Quietly, the track is built up with copious amounts of analog drum machines (808, 909). Close to the first chorus, we introduce the Mellotron, which is the epitome of the films of the time. We have not been able to completely ignore the current trends and have therefore sprinkled a little trap high-hat in addition to the number here and there. After a short acoustic interlude, the number becomes very pompous. In the outro, a little bit of chaos arises in the form of a musical battle between three analog synth basses (ms20). The track ends almost as it began with Maria Mercedes’ fine vocals, and a film roll running out. Musical sources of inspiration include: Sparklehorse’s amazing way of including everyday sounds in their music, Vince Clake’s amazing synth work in Yazoo and Flaming Lips’ ability to deliver chaos.
In Montage Song we have had plenty of time to play with vibes, analog instruments and effects.

Marbles Lost is a Danish / Faroese Folktronica duo, consisting of singer Maria Mercedes Lindeskov and e-drummer René Thorny. Marbles Lost has something on their mind. As an activist, Maria Mercedes fights in the streets, on the stage and through the music for various important topics. Topics that Maria Mercedes with a clear voice, in the best singer-songwriter style, passes on. Despite its Folktronica arts community, Marbles Lost isn’t firmly locked into any particular genre or soundscape. This is evident when you listen to Marbles Lost live. There is room for acoustic tracks with ukulele and fuller 80s inspired synth pop arrangements.
