About Heimasvitan
The album “Home Suite” is a salutation from the composer to his homeland. The thought behind the album is to portray different circumstances that have some importance to the homeland, and somehow knit together the past and the present. The ocean has always carried the Faroese people both nutritiously and with transportation. But it has also taken lives and caused trouble. Although it was more dangerous before, it still remains dangerous and the Faroese people have great respect for the ocean. They also have great respect for the mountains. It is healthy to walk up on a mountain, where shepherds herd their sheep and others hunt birds and hare. But people have also lost their lives or been severely injured. These are some of the subjects that are reflected upon in the Home Suite, that was first written by composer Sámal J. Jakobsen, and then interpreted and performed by guitarists Dávur Birgisson, Hjalti Bogason Støylen and Jonas Egholm.
