Sámal Jákup Jakobsen

Sámal Jákup Jakobsen
The composer Sámal Jákup Jakobsen has written and performed pieces and songs from a young age, where the guitar always has benn his main instrument. He has tried a variety of genres through the years, ranging from pop, rock, classical, accompaniment for community singing and choir, and this has only widened the composer’s perspective on music. The classical path took a more serious shape when he started taking lessons from composer Sunleif Rasmussen, and his years on Musikkskúla Miðnám laid his foundation within classical composition. The inspiration normally comes from specific circumstances, persons, imaginations, social conditions, old Faroese traditions, stories, melodies and such. The composer sometimes has a specific story in mind when composing, but the listener doesn’t always have to know about it.
