Katrin á Borg
Katrin á Borg
Faroese singer and songwriter Katrin á Borg made her debut with the single “Fading Lovehearts” in 2016, followed by “My Heart Cries” in 2017, both produced by the Faroese producer Kristoffer Mørkøre. Both songs are beautiful, powerful pop-ballads about love, heartache and loss, while maintaining hope.
Born and raised in Hoyvík, Faroe Islands, where music from early childhood became an important part of her life, she has been singing in different choirs, a vocal group and in church. As a young teenager she got the opportunity to lead the local youth choir, and this should all in part shape her future. The desire to do more with her singing led her to Norway in 2006, where she studied at Høgskolen i Staffeldtsgate, and spent 12 years there, studying, singing, writing music, performing and teaching, before heading back home to the Faroes. In 2020 she released her first EP called “Uncover the Truth”, produced by the Norwegian producer Espen Tappel.
Her songwriting has developed through the years, always finding great inspiration in the people, nature and culture surrounding her, alongside the great artists she has discovered throughout the years. Her music runs in the pop genre, but the awake ear can hear that it holds influential traces of especially soul, jazz and gospel music. She aims to create enchanting musical universes that brings the listener on a journey.
Her newest single is a Christmas song called “Jólakvøld fangans” (translated: The Prisoners Christmas Night), released in 2024.
