Katrin á Borg
Katrin á Borg
Faroese singer and songwriter Katrin á Borg made her debut with the single “Fading Lovehearts” in 2016. Since then she has made her mark as a distinctive voice and has continued to evolve her song writing.
Katrin is born and raised in Hoyvík, Faroe Islands, and music soon became an important part of her life. From early childhood onwards she has been singing in choirs, vocal groups and in church, and at an early age she got the opportunity to lead the local youth choir, and this should all in part shape her future.
The desire to do more with her singing led her to Norway. She moved to Oslo to study music at Høgskolen i Staffeldtsgate in 2006, and spent 12 years there, studying, singing, writing songs, performing and teaching, before heading back home to the mesmerizing Faroes. Her song writing has developed through the years, always finding great inspiration in the people, nature and culture surrounding her, alongside the great artists she has discovered throughout the years. Like many others growing up in the 90’s, in the small capital pop music has been the preferred music genre of her generation. Therefore, it naturally has been the base in her music as well. Her music definitely runs in the pop genre, but the awake ear can hear that it holds influential traces of soul, jazz and gospel music in particular. She aims to create enchanting musical universes that brings the listener on a journey.
As a result of the collaboration with the talented and acknowledged Faroese producer Kristoffer Mørkøre, the dream to record and share original music became real. In 2016 her first single “Fading Lovehearts” was released, followed by her second single “My Heart Cries” in 2017. Both songs are beautiful and powerful pop-ballads, where she sings about love, heartache and loss, but still maintaining hope.
The ongoing song writing during her years in Oslo lay the groundwork for the new music now being released.
