Katari
Katari is the name of the duo Katrina Olsen and Ari Johannesen. They have been playing and writing music together for several years and will be releasing their first single “leyst loft” this summer (2023).
Katrina is a Faroese singer, songwriter and saxophonist. She started creating songs at seventeen when she got into the Music High School in Thorshavn as a songwriter. Since then she has been the lead singer in the pop/funk group Funksjón, choir singer and keyboardist in Guðrið Hansdóttir’s band, saxophonist in DJARI and singer in an acapella jazz trio called SWAY. She enjoys making choir arrangements and exploring new sounds, all of which are expressed in her music.
Ari is a Faroese guitarist and producer. He started playing the guitar when he was young and was immediately hooked. Since then he has studied at the Music High School in Tórshavn where he was introduced to music theory and jazz. He has played in many bands such as Funksjón, Guðrið Hansdóttir, Dania O. Tausen, Marianna Winther and Brimhvítt. He also played in the instrumental group DJARI where he was the lead guitarist and composer of the music. He has produced songs for Røkkvi, Funksjón and Brimhvítt.
