About Åen

Åen is the second single from A15’s coming debut album.

Faroese star bass player Torleik Mortensen has teamed up with Girls in Airports’ front man saxophonist Martin Stender and the two create a beautiful at times even psychedelic kind of Nordic jazz.

The track Åen was recorded by Faroese singer / songwriter Teitur Lassen at his studio. At the session he modified and enhanced the music by adding effects to the saxophone. As the tune progresses Teiturs role becomes more and more prominent, while Torleik creates a rhythmic effect using a delay on his double bass.

Åen is a sketchy melody written by Martin – like a children’s song it consists almost only of small steps through the major scale. The simplicity of the piece works as an invitation to playfulness and creativity between the two.
