About Lysbro
Girls in Airports’ front man Martin Stender has teamed up with star bass player Torleik Mortensen from the emerging Torshavn scene. Their first single is the beautiful Nordic sounding track Lysbro. The two interact playfully and add electronic effects and sampling which makes it very unlike what you’d expect from a saxophone / double bass release.
Lysbro is really a rather long journey as the duo explores the same theme for about 17 minutes, but they let their creativity run wild and there is a constant movement forward into something new. At times it feels like you’re at a packed club in the 90s. At other times it is more surreal and then a folksy flutes emerges out of nowhere.
The track is the result of one long improvisation one night in Torleiks own studio. ‘We actually shortened it by about two minutes, and feel that this is just the right length,’ says A15.
The duo will tour the Faroe Islands in June and will release a full album in the fall 2022.
