About Hamskifti – BA Tónlist
Hamskifti is an album by the artists in BA tónlist. It was created in the span of a semester at the Creative Arts program in the University of the Faroe Islands (Fróðskaparsetur Føroya). The album consists of songs and compositions including genres such as House, R&B, Hip Hop, Folk, Chambre pop/Prog-rock and Ambient. BA tónlist is part of Føroyamálsdeildin (Department of Faroese Language and Literature) and therefore it was important for the artists that the lyrics were all in Faroese.

About the Artists
Sjúrður Durhuus Tróndheim
Sjúrður usually eats two eggs with Danish rugbrød in the morning. He likes to play the guitar and keys in bands, but since he heard about musique concrète he also began playing the sounds he records.
Kári Sverrisson
Kári Sverrisson is a Faroese musician, singer, songwriter, and composer. He has been a member of the band Enekk since its formation in 1991 and has been a part of the bands Orka and Yggdrasil as well. In 2013 he released the album “Nøkur fá fet aftrat” in collaboration with the band Bendar Spónir, and he has released two albums together with Hans Jacob Kollslíð. On the album “Hamskifti” Hans Jacob Kollslíð wrote the lyrics to “Umskifti”. The Icelandic author Einar Már Guðmundsson wrote the poem “Ein spegil tosar í svøvni.” Martin Næs translated it into Faroese. Kári wrote the music, made the arrangements and orchestrations.
Karl Andrias Stóra
Karl Andrias Stórá, a talented Faroese musician, was born in Iceland in 1991. With a passion for music coursing through his veins from a young age, Karl Andrias has established himself as a versatile bass player, lending his skills to numerous bands in the Faroe Islands. Throughout his career, Karl Andrias has showcased his musical prowess as a hired bass player, collaborating with esteemed artists such as Kári Sverrisson, Lyon Hansen, Guðrið Hansdóttir, and Aggrasoppar. His innate ability to effortlessly groove with various genres and adapt to diverse musical styles has made him a sought-after musician in the Faroese music scene. Beyond his role as a hired bass player, Karl Andrias has also been an active member of several bands, where he has made significant contributions as a co-writer and arranger. One notable project in his repertoire is the hip-hop endeavor known as Silvurdrongur. Within this dynamic collective, Karl Andrias has played a pivotal role in shaping the sound and direction of the group, showcasing his versatility and creative spirit. With a deep appreciation for music and an unwavering commitment to his craft, Karl Andrias Stórá continues to captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on the Faroese music landscape. As he explores new musical horizons and contributes his unique bass-playing talents to various projects, Karl Andrias remains a formidable force in the realm of music, constantly pushing boundaries and inspiring fellow musicians along the way.
Guðrið Hansdóttir
Guðrið is a singer, songwriter and musician from the Faroe Islands and has released several studio albums, and her musical carrier spans over 20 years. Apart from being a solo artist she is also member of the electro duo BYRTA and the vocal quintet KATA. She works with many different musical styles and genres such as folk, pop, electro pop, classical music and rock. Her music has been released in many countries and she has toured in different parts of the world such as Scandinavia, Europe, USA, Russia and Greenland.
She currently studies music as a part of the art education (Listaútbúgvingin BA) at the University of the Faroe Islands. During the studies she has chosen to focus mainly on arrangements and scores for classical instruments and has written several musical pieces for string quartet. The piece “Ovast á heygnum” is part of a school exam and is featured on the album “Hamskifti” by her fellow students.
Kristin Nolsøe Bech
Kristin Nolsøe Bech is a composer, songwriter, bassist, musician writing and cowriting music in genres like pop, rock, ambient and film. He has been involved in musical projects such as Mold, The Reverends and Leiðland.
Studying art in Listaútbúgving BA at Fróðskaparsetur Føroya, the three musical pieces: Ormvera, Reivvera og Firvaldur on this exam project are intended to a yet unrealized movie project and the names are inspired by the poem “Umskifti” by Hans Jacob Kollslíð.
Sigmund Zachariassen
Sigmund Zachariassen is a Faroese musician, singer and songwriter. He has released music as a solo artist, and as member of the bands Joe & The Shitboys Kóboykex and Ranchus. As well as many other obscure underground records.
On the album “Hamskifti”, Sigmund asked Ári Patursson to write some words for his track “Millum fjøru og flóð”, where every member of B.A. í Tónlist plays at least one instrument. Sigmund also has contributed the song “Hvarv” to the album.
Heini Ronnason á Heygum
Heini Ronnason á Heygum is a talented musician from the Faroe Islands. Born and raised in the vibrant music scene of Tórshavn, the capital city, Heini’s passion for music emerged at an early age. With his remarkable talent and dedication, he has become a prominent figure in the Faroese music industry, making a name for himself as a producer and rapper in the widely acclaimed rap group RSP.
As a member of RSP, Heini showcases his exceptional skills in both production and rap. His distinct musical style combines hard-hitting beats, catchy melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics, reflecting his unique perspective on life in the Faroe Islands.
Heini Ronnason á Heygum’s dedication to his craft is evident in the quality and impact of his work. Beyond his success with RSP, he continues to push boundaries and explore new musical territories. Whether it’s crafting captivating beats in the studio or delivering powerful verses on stage, Heini’s passion for music shines through, inspiring fellow artists and captivating audiences with his talent.
