Reality Bytes

Reality Bytes is a 6-man group from the enchanted and remote Faroe Islands in the north-west of Europe. They walk the line between deep and easy, complex and soothing, with retro-modern sounds and rhythms. You can hear the gospel touches in the music, coming from the band members’ church background, with the gospel lyrics being even more evident. The band was born out of the desire to give the Faroes new modern gospel music with a broad brush, with the world being the next step. With the love for the home country of the Faroes and the mother tongue of Faroese, some lyrics are crafted in Faroese, and with the love for the international and the English gateway, others are written in English.

Founded in autumn 2018, Reality Bytes had their debut concert in Mars 2019 at a local bar, Blábar, meaning Blue Bar. With a full house, the band was eager to continue. In April, the band participated in and won the Faroese band/singer-songwriter competition Sement 2019, prizing the band with 3 days in Studio Bloch. This is where their first debut was born: the 5 track EP, Symhony of Storms.

Reality Bytes describe their music as: “Powerfully unbalanced in a balanced way. Up in the air, still feet on the ground. Flying high and lying low. Complex – soothing. Bewildering – but sing-along. Hard to catch up – then carrying. Thinking deep – stopping thinking. Unstable – flowing freely. Challenging – uplifting.”

Reality Bytes consists of 6 members who all play their important role.

Ingmar Berg Mikkelsen (rhodes, organ, piano, vocoder, choir)
David Simonsen (bass, choir)
Pauli R. Poulsen (guitars)
