Nú farast allar rósur – Jógvan á Lakjuni

“The Roses Are Fading” is a song that resembles late Autumn when everything that has bloomed in the summer now fades and dies. Yet there is one rose that does not fade. This most beautiful of roses is the faith in God’s sovereign work of salvation when Jesus died and shed his blood for all mankind.

Ismar Joensen translated the text in the 1940ies, and Jógvan á Lakjuni wrote the music in the 1990ies. It is performed by Jógvan himself together with a string quartet and piano. The song was recorded in connection to Jógvan’s 70th birthday in November 2022.
