Description

Meira enn hvítt og svart

Glymur Choir, based in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, was founded in the autumn of 1983. Originally devoted to performing popular rhythmic music, the choir has, over the past twenty years, expanded its repertoire to include many genres. During the first four years, Sunleif Rasmussen was choirmaster. Subsequent choirmasters Jógvan Telling Joensen, Bjarni Restorff, Edvard Nyholm Debess, Bjarni Berg and Jógvan Dahl have also influenced the repertoire of the choir.

Choirmaster Pauli Hansen has directed the choir since 2001. This release includes material recorded in the past, as well as four songs recorded specifically for this CD. The earliest recordings date back to 1991 and are mainly live recordings of concerts given in the Faroe Islands and abroad. Our intention is to give the listener a sense of the choir’s “journey” through the past twenty years. With this album we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has helped and supported Glymur throughout the years.
