About Rangvørg
Rangvørg was born in the midst of the corona crisis in the spring of 2020. One day Urd Johannesen posted some newly written poems on social media, composer Kári Jacobsen read them and loved them – and transformed them to songs for piano and soprano. Along came soprano Birita Poulsen who was happy to breathe life into the songs with her beautiful voice. The lyrics reflect the chain of thoughts in the wake of the strange silence and unusual isolation of the pandemic. The music is celebrating the soprano and piano Lied tradition – a modern take on the classical art song. In memory of Ingrid Linderoth Jacobsen (1944 – 2021).
