“Frítt Val” was originally written for “Repeal the 8th”.

Back in the spring of 2018, when the Irish people went to the polls to vote to appeal or repeal the 8th amendment, Marbles Lost wrote a song in solidarity with the Irish people about how important the right to free abortion is.

Since there isn’t free abortion in the Faroe Islands either, it only made sense to change the lyrics to fit to Marbles native country.

With 90’s pop vibes and rap, Marbles poors her heart out, and sings about a cause that is dear to her heart. In a time where we see more and more abortion restrictions happening in the US, this is a crucial moment to release a song like this.

The song is written and produced by Marbles. Mix and master is made by Theodor Kapnas and George Nerantzis.

Marbles Lost is the artist name of Faroese Maria Mercedes Lindenskov. The name originates from the English saying: ,,To lose one’s marbles”, which means to go crazy or insane.

Maria Mercedes is 25 years old. She has been singing and writing songs for as long as she remembers. Marbles Lost originated in collaboration with a friend in Berlin in 2016. It started out as a coverband that played on the S-Bahn, but has now evolved into Maria Mercedes’ electronic indiepop project and darling.

Marbles Lost is formed by her divided childhood, where she partly grew up in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, but also lived a couple of years in a small village in the Faroe Islands. Today she commutes between the two countries. With a little help from her Macbook and Ableton Live, she experiments with beats and lyrics. With her personal stories, vivid ideas and creative mind she will take you through her divided universe.
