Stauffer Guitar Duo

STAUFFER GUITAR DUO
Stauffer Guitar Duo was founded in 2014 in order to explore the 19th century repertoire for two guitars on replicas of instruments made by Johann Georg Stauffer (1778-1853). Beside this main area of work the duo has performed on modern guitars in various programmes of Spanish and South American music and contemporary Scandinavian music including works written for the duo. Based in the Faroe Islands the Stauffer Guitar Duo has performed under the auspices of the Faroese Radio, the Faroese Composer´s Society and made numerous concerts all over the Faroe Islands including the Summartónar Festival 2015, 2016 and 2018. Stauffer Guitar Duo has also co-worked with other musicians in concert projects such as “19th century Guitar Trios” with Danish guitarist Jens Overbye (2017) and “Birds and Beasts” with Faroese violinist Angelika Nielsen and American guitarist Christopher Ladd (2018).

RAGNAR OLSEN
Ragnar Olsen studied the guitar with Jørgen Bjørslev at Vestjysk Musikkonservatorium in Denmark 1998–2004 and with Timo Korhonen in Finland 2005. He is very active both as solo recitalist and chamber musician and has also performed as a soloist with the Faroese Symphony Orchestra. Besides teaching the guitar at the Music School of Tórshavn Ragnar Olsen is director of the Music School of Sandoy.

BO ISHOLM
Bo Isholm studied the guitar with Ingolf Olsen at Det Fynske Musikkonservatorium 1970–1972 and Det Kgl. Danske Musikkonservatorium 1975–1980 in Denmark including a year of lute studies with Anthony Rooley and Christopher Wilson at the Early Music Centre in London. Since then he has worked as a free-lance musician in Denmark, Faroe Islands and abroad with various ensembles and soloists, as a guitar teacher and also as director of the music schools of Tårnby (Denmark) 1984–1996 and Tórshavn (Faroe Islands) 2003–2015. Alongside this administrative work he has also been co-founder and active member of the Danish Guitar Ensemble, Corona Guitar Quartet and Biedermeier Trio.
