Resterne af Rigsfællesskabet
Resterne af Rigsfællesskabet
Resterne af Rigsfællesskabet (The Remains of the Commonwealth). Electronic music meets Inuit drum dance. Technology meets nature. Relationships between the remaining countries of the Danish Commonwealth and the last country to declare its independence are explored artistically through live improvised music performance. Resterne af Rigsfællesskabet is Heðin Ziska Davidsen (FO), Jesper Pedersen (DK/IS) and Miké Thomsen (GL). The trio combines the sounds of modular synthesizers with modern interpretations of the Inuit drum dance and throat singing tradition. The group is investigating the possible musical liberation and artistic freedom within the framework of experimental electronic music and Inuit performance and storytelling. They seek to create a new musical language that embraces and transcends both past, present and future sonic expression and to bring this music to the so called outskirts of the Commonwealth. The self-titled album released on TUTL was put together from different recordings of live performances in the Faroe Islands and Iceland. It contains two tracks, each filling a side on the forthcoming LP release. The tracks represent a musical journey that explores a common ground between the three musicians. An open conversation.
