Niels Midjord

The late Niels Midjord was a legendary Faroese folk singer and songwriter. He has released albums with his own songs as well as renditions of Kingo, Leonard Cohen and others.
Niels Midjord released his first album Bingo in 1987, where he sings songs by Gunnleif Thomsen. The album is filled with comic ballads and have left an imprint on the history of Faroese music. His second album was Høvdaløg. In this album we get a glance of an earnest Niels Midjord with his observations of society and romance. He went on to release 9 other albums – one being a re-release of Bingo.
Niels Midjord was not only a great musician, he was also a kind and genuine person as stated by so many of the people he has worked with throughout the years. If you haven’t already, then we would definitely recommend that you have a listen to these classics.
