Anna Louisa

Anna Louisa Gaard was born and raised in the small town of Skálafjørð on the island of Eysturoy in the Faroe Islands.

Anna Louisa has always been interested in music but growing up in a small village in the Faroes in the 80’ies did not offer many opportunities for attending live concerts. Says Anna Louisa: “One of the most vivid memories I have from my childhood is when I at the age of eleven saw a videotape with a live concert by Roxette. I was completely blown away and watched that tape over and over again for days on end. My mom, probably taking pity on me since I was watching the same tape every day, went to the video store and found concert-tapes from a broad variety of bands and artists. This introduced me to a lot of different music that I could never have known had it not been for those video tapes.”

As a teenager Anna Louisa was the singer in a local garage band. But as people grew up, they moved away from the island and the band broke up. At the age of 20 Anna Louisa had her first child – at the age of 27 she had her fourth. Anna Louisa managed to get both a College degree and become a B.Sc. in Nursing, but with 4 kids and a full-time job there was no time to prioritize music. When Anna Louisa turned 31, she got her first guitar. She taught herself to play and from the very start began to write her own music. For the last two years she has been the singer in the band Angie, playing covers at bars mainly in Tórshavn. Although she is not performing her own music in this band it has offered her a lot of experience singing live.

Today, at the age of 39, she has chosen to prioritize and share her music. Her first single is “Let me go” – and what a debut it is!
