Svartsalt’s Full-Length Debut: A Metal Overture Forged in The Darkest Hole
Tórshavn, Faroe Islands – September 19, 2025 – Faroese metal veterans, Svartsalt, are set to unleash their powerful new single, “Svartasta Holið” (“The Darkest Hole”), on October 3, 2025, in partnership with Tutl Records. The track marks the band’s first release with the label after a history of independent EPs and singles, and serves as the first glimpse into their monumental new album, Upp Úr Dýpinum, a masterful fusion of post-black and blackened death metal, performed entirely in the Faroese language.
The album’s creation was sparked by an unexpected turn of events: due to logistical challenges ahead of a December 2024 concert, bassist and lead vocalist Groth had to step back from vocal duties. In a pivotal moment, guitarist Nirvargh took on the challenge, receiving screaming lessons to fulfill the band’s commitment. This experience ignited a new creative fire, fueling the inspiration and drive to produce the band’s first full-length album with Nirvargh at the helm.
“Svartasta Holið” is a visceral and unyielding condemnation of political hypocrisy and the corrupting nature of power. The track’s raw intensity and atmospheric depth are fueled by lyrics that rage against empty words, blind arrogance, and the destructive path of a power-hungry elite. The single sets a dramatic and confrontational stage for the full album’s themes of societal decay and the search for integrity. The single’s striking artwork is a visual masterpiece crafted by Bjartur F. Clementsen, marking his debut commissioned album artwork.
The release of “Svartasta Holið” marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards the full album launch. The album will be followed by further singles, with the full album release slated for March 6, 2026.
Fans can experience the raw power of Svartsalt live at a special, one-time only metal experience in late spring 2026, at a yet undisclosed location in Tórshavn. The concert will be joined by friends and metal family, promising an unforgettable night of music.
