Description

About Særd

Marner was born and raised in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. He was born in 1968 and has been playing the piano, singing and composing music since he was young. He has been active as a musician for over 30 years, and has contributed to several Faroese releases. The most famous release is from the album ‘4’, which he made together with his three youth friends. The group had a big hit with the song “Her er løtan” and Marner also had a few popular hits on the record, e.g. “Vit sigldu út”. Even though he has been living in Denmark for 30 years, Marner still likes to write songs in Faroese, as the mother tongue is the language of emotions. In his songwriting, Marner is often inspired by the memories he has from growing up on the Faroe Islands and the stories that relate to the life lived among the Faroese people. On a daily basis, Marner is an active musician on the Danish music scene, but performs mainly in the Faroe Islands.

“Særd” is based on a tragic incident that happened in Tórshavn about 50 years ago. Nine children lost their parents in an accident that shocked many Faroese families. The story is told from the perspective of a child, who lost its parents overnight. A story about stepping in and helping out with care, love and comfort when the grief is unbearable.
