Laredo

I drove myself to the outskirts of town
I got my mind set on Ohio
She was quiet and tired of the city
Heading for the lonesome road of Chicago
She was passing through
Driving through my town of Laredo
I was 21 and she was 45
I felt like a man, windows down in her car
But to her, I was just another boy
On the backseat of your car,
promises things are getting better But what do I know?
I don’t know
You’ve been driving too fast, like you’re never gonna settle
Oh what do I know? I don’t know
Once again, I was on the road to nowhere
Looking for a chance to settle down
Trying to let go of a garment that wouldn’t fit
Preparing for the lonesome road of Chicago
I was passing through, driving through
His town of Laredo
He was 21 and I was 45
He felt like a man, windows down in my car
But to me, he was just another boy
On the backseat of your car, promises things are getting better
But what do I know? I don’t know
On the backseat of the car, promises things will be better
But what do I know? I don’t know
You’ve been driving too fast, like you’re never gonna settle
Oh, what do I know? I don’t know
